Write Talk!

I've started a new message board for writers AND readers. I mean, without readers, what would be the point in writers? Anyway, I would love for you to join Tiffany and I on the boards. If you love to write or read, please stop by. I started it because I was testing out a message board for my son and decided that it would be something fun to do. For now, there are none of those rules that say you can't chat it up as much as you like.

Click the link to the left that says Write Talk! to join. Or, click here.

Praying at the Sweetwater Motel - April Young Fritz

Praying at the Sweetwater Motel Praying at the Sweetwater Motel by April Young Fritz

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved reading this book. The author tells a tale of alcohol and spousal abuse that finally comes to an end when Sarah Jane's mother leaves in the middle of the night with her two girls. Sarah Jane prays to God for things to be better and her prayers are very young and innocent. I found that the author captured many of the feelings that a 12 year old girl would have in this situation. This book has been recommended for readers aged 10-14. I found the book very enjoyable and I'm 36. I wish I could have known a little more about Fred and if you read, you'll see why. ;-) I would definitely recommend this book to readers of all ages as it teaches a valuable lesson. Many times we don't know what we've got until we lose it.

It's Here!

Coming Soon!
I woke up this morning to find my beautiful book cover in my inbox! Look at it! I love it all. There isn't one thing about this cover that I would change. I am so excited. Those are my characters that I created, doing what I told them to do! Do you understand how exciting this is? *shaking you by your imaginary collar*

I can't wait until October or November when my book will be released. So many people have expressed an interest in it and I'm so hoping that tween girls are going to love it.

Discipine and Writer's Block

I was listening to an interview with Nora Roberts at Barnes and Noble when she was asked how she can write so many books. Seriously, she just cranks them out like they're nothing. She said that she is very disciplined as she had been educated by nuns. She went on to say more but I hate to quote people for fear of messing everything up. Run over to the Barnes and Noble website and check out her interview and more.

Just this past week I found that I had to set a minimum word count for myself in order to keep me on track. Otherwise, before I know it, my brain will have led me all over the world and not one thing will be done. So I set myself a goal to write a minimum of 1500 words a day. I usually write more but there are some days when I can literally do nothing because my mind wanders so much. I'm happy to report that I'm doing well with this and should be able to crank out my own books much faster. I think, I'm not positive, but I think I can write a book in six weeks if I just keep writing.

Nora also said that she doesn't believe in writer's block. I have to say that I agree with her. I've said so many times to various people, "just sit down and write. It doesn't have to be perfect, it doesn't even have to be good." Just write, eventually you'll find what you want to write about.

I'm still very excited about my book cover and can't wait to see it. I was told that it should be ready any day now, any minute really. I can't wait to show it off and slap a big 'ole Coming Soon sign across it. Well, I'm off to do a little more research for my website. I'm determined to have a very friendly author site. I loved my design at first (very girlish) but now I don't know. Of course, I do this. As soon as something is complete I begin to doubt myself. Happy writing everyone!

Cover Designs

It hit me this past week that the girls that I love so much on my book cover will grow. Yep, they'll grow up and change and look totally different. So I've found myself brain storming for book ideas. Book two's cover is in the works now but I have to get ideas so that we can get the girls posed for pics for the other books before they age too much. If anyone has a miracle cure for aging, let me know. I'll pour it over the girls' heads to give me more time to think. Everyone wish a stormy brain for me! :-D

Writing?

Tiffany and I are discussing the different ways we write. BTW, if you leave comments here hounding Tiffany to write, I'll see that she gets them. ;-) She is a planner. I just sit down and write. I honestly can't tell you what will happen five sentences from now. Tiffany writes it all out and her organization makes me feel like a slob. It is definitely something to be admired. I love to read the stores she writes but I can't get her to write. Any help would be appreciated.
